Diwali special

Hello there all you craft-y people!!
First of all Happy Diwali to you all!
Today I am here to share my first project with the newly launched Tinted Metallic Paints by Little Birdie this is my DT post for itsy bitsy. They have superb coverage and leave an unmatched shine. These come in 12  shades and I was so excited to see all the shades!! I have clicked a pic of all the shades for you to have a look.

l have altered a bottle and given it a traditional look which is perfect  for Diwali.
Have a look at my creation....

Lets start making now,
I have taken a bottle and applied white gesso on it. I have done some  clay work to create the shape of a temple as seen in image
.
I have Done some stencil work

Added chipboard shapes and applied black gesso on the top part only. Also placed a Ganesha idol where I wanted it.
Now it was time to colour, I used Caribbean Teal and Sliver Oak in the middle

Used Poppy Red and Silver Charm to colour the upper part with dry brush. You can see the shine on both the white and the black base here are some more pics...

Embellished the altered bottle with some handmade flowers, bells, faux grass, rhinestones etc. By the time I finished my project was really impressed with it.

Please leave your comments for me and tell me how did you like it! Love to hear from you all....

Recycled box with twist

Hello everyone,
Its Pooja once again! I am here to spend some enjoyable crafting moments with you all. This time I would like to share a recycled project with you which I have made for itsy bitsy blog
As you all know its the festive season once again and that's a good time to showoff your creations too. My creation today was made with a sweet box and I am sure you will find plenty of them at home at this time of the year :) I decoupaged it and decorated it differently.....just wait to look at the twist I gave to this project!
This is my finished project!!

So let's start making....
  1. I have used an empty sweet box and applied gesso to it as primer.

2. Then I used modeling paste to create texture on the front and sides. The modelling paste was applied with Little Birdie's texture triangle tool.

3.After the layers dried, I sanded it to make the surface smooth.
4. After measuring the surface of the box (only the area I wanted to cover) , I took a fabric and cut it out according to the measurements. Made a smooth paste of ceramic powder and glue ( Itsy Bitsy has huge range of different craft glues and you can try them out for making such off-beat projects!) I dipped the fabric completely in the paste.

5. Then I placed the fabric on top of the box and gave it the shape I wanted.

6. Now my base was ready for decoupaging. I pasted tissue paper with mod podge and after it was dry I applied a coat of mod podge on top the tissue as an over laying coat.
7. I have used chalk paints to colour the background. To cover the other left out places in the decoupaged area, I used  some acrylic colours to match the background.

8. In the remaining area of the fabric and the edge of the box, I used brown acrylic paint.
9. At the end I applied some metallic paint with a light hand. Added some resin embellishments from the store, at the corners of my project .
Here are some more pics of the final project.............

Hope you enjoyed it and found it worth a try!!
Thank you so much...waiting for your comments and to see you all try it out for yourself
