Recycled box with twist

Hello everyone,
Its Pooja once again! I am here to spend some enjoyable crafting moments with you all. This time I would like to share a recycled project with you which I have made for itsy bitsy blog
As you all know its the festive season once again and that's a good time to showoff your creations too. My creation today was made with a sweet box and I am sure you will find plenty of them at home at this time of the year :) I decoupaged it and decorated it differently.....just wait to look at the twist I gave to this project!
This is my finished project!!

So let's start making....
  1. I have used an empty sweet box and applied gesso to it as primer.

2. Then I used modeling paste to create texture on the front and sides. The modelling paste was applied with Little Birdie's texture triangle tool.

3.After the layers dried, I sanded it to make the surface smooth.
4. After measuring the surface of the box (only the area I wanted to cover) , I took a fabric and cut it out according to the measurements. Made a smooth paste of ceramic powder and glue ( Itsy Bitsy has huge range of different craft glues and you can try them out for making such off-beat projects!) I dipped the fabric completely in the paste.

5. Then I placed the fabric on top of the box and gave it the shape I wanted.

6. Now my base was ready for decoupaging. I pasted tissue paper with mod podge and after it was dry I applied a coat of mod podge on top the tissue as an over laying coat.
7. I have used chalk paints to colour the background. To cover the other left out places in the decoupaged area, I used  some acrylic colours to match the background.

8. In the remaining area of the fabric and the edge of the box, I used brown acrylic paint.
9. At the end I applied some metallic paint with a light hand. Added some resin embellishments from the store, at the corners of my project .
Here are some more pics of the final project.............

Hope you enjoyed it and found it worth a try!!
Thank you so much...waiting for your comments and to see you all try it out for yourself
